STRENGTHENING TEACHING & LEARNING: ACADEMIC SUMMIT/SESSION 2026
The Port Elizabeth TVET College Academic Summit/session was held at Dolphins Leap, Summerstrand, Gqeberha, on 16 and 17 April 2026.
The session was initiated by the Principal, Mr Riba, who outlined its purpose. He emphasised the need to engage on key institutional matters, including curriculum development, student-related concerns, and management challenges. He further encouraged staff to remain motivated and committed to building a college that prioritises quality teaching and learning, equips young people with relevant skills, and contributes towards addressing unemployment, inequality, and poverty.
The two-day program was led by Ms Matikinca, DP: Registrar, who served as Program Director. Delegates participated actively, with robust engagement throughout the sessions. The breakaway discussions proved particularly productive and insightful.
In closing, Mr. Riba expressed gratitude to all attendees for their participation and confirmed that the College would soon resume normal operations, as it is still a work in progress.
He also extended his appreciation to Ms Figg, DP: Academic and Ms Matikinca, DP: Registrar, for their valuable contributions, with special recognition to Ms Matikinca for her outstanding role as Program Director.
