TVET MONTH ROADSHOW 2025: 8 EC TVET COLLEGES INSPIRE AND INFORM YOUTH & UNEMPLOYED COMMUNITY IN SARAH BAARTMAN DISTRICT
In celebration of TVET Month 2025, under the theme “TVET for All: Skills. Opportunity. Change,” the 8 Eastern Cape TVET Colleges conducted a coordinated four-day roadshow across the Sarah Baartman District, aimed at promoting TVET colleges to high school learners and out-of-school youth, particularly in under-resourced communities.
The roadshow officially commenced on Day 1 – 18 August 2025 in Humansdorp, where Marketing and Communications Officials engaged with learners at Lungiso High School and Humansdorp Senior Secondary School, offering insights into TVET programmes, career prospects, and the value of vocational training in shaping meaningful futures.
Day 2 – 19 August 2025 took the team to Patensie, where they interacted with out-of-school youth at the Patensie Community Hall and learners from Patensie Agricultural School. The day was filled with impactful conversations around opportunities available in vocational education, with learners exploring stalls and receiving career guidance
On Day 3 – 20 August 2025, the team split into two groups, reaching Carel du Toit Centre in Steytlerville and Willowmore Secondary School. Officials focused on aligning subject choices with career aspirations, highlighted the demand for technical skills in South Africa, and encouraged youth to consider Engineering and Artisan-related programmes offered by TVET Colleges.
The campaign concluded on Day 4 – 21 August 2025, with visits to Johnson Nqonqoza High School, Aeroville High School, and Cookhouse High School in Somerset East. As the final day of the roadshow, it reinforced the core message of empowerment through education and promoted the upcoming 2026 academic year application window, ensuring learners are informed and prepared to take the next step.
Throughout the roadshow, the EC TVET Colleges remained steadfast in their commitment to inform, inspire, and guide Grade 9–12 learners and out-of-school youth in making informed educational and career decisions that contribute to both personal development and national growth.
This roadshow also aimed to destigmatise vocational education and position TVET Colleges as crucial institutions in addressing youth unemployment, poverty, and skills shortages across the province.
We remain committed to building a skilled, knowledgeable, and employable generation through accessible education, meaningful opportunity, and lasting change.
