COLLEGE SHOWCASES AT WARRIORS GOLF DAY

The College had the honour of attending the Warriors Golf Day, which took place on Tuesday, 26 August 2025 at the Port Elizabeth Golf Club.

The event provided a valuable platform for the College to exhibit its brand and create awareness about the diverse academic programmes it offers to individuals seeking to pursue further education.

In addition, the occasion served as a strategic opportunity to engage with potential partners for the College’s Life After Sports cricket programme—an initiative aimed at supporting athletes as they transition into life beyond their sporting careers.

The College was positioned at Tee Box 7, where representatives interacted with attendees in a warm and welcoming environment. The day was characterised by a spirit of professionalism and shared enthusiasm for the game of golf.

The College extends its appreciation to the organisers for the invitation and looks forward to nurturing the relationships established on the day.

TVET MONTH ROADSHOW 2025: 8 EC TVET COLLEGES INSPIRE AND INFORM YOUTH & UNEMPLOYED COMMUNITY IN SARAH BAARTMAN DISTRICT

In celebration of TVET Month 2025, under the theme “TVET for All: Skills. Opportunity. Change,” the 8 Eastern Cape TVET Colleges conducted a coordinated four-day roadshow across the Sarah Baartman District, aimed at promoting TVET colleges to high school learners and out-of-school youth, particularly in under-resourced communities.

The roadshow officially commenced on Day 1 – 18 August 2025 in Humansdorp, where Marketing and Communications Officials engaged with learners at Lungiso High School and Humansdorp Senior Secondary School, offering insights into TVET programmes, career prospects, and the value of vocational training in shaping meaningful futures.

Day 2 – 19 August 2025 took the team to Patensie, where they interacted with out-of-school youth at the Patensie Community Hall and learners from Patensie Agricultural School. The day was filled with impactful conversations around opportunities available in vocational education, with learners exploring stalls and receiving career guidance

On Day 3 – 20 August 2025, the team split into two groups, reaching Carel du Toit Centre in Steytlerville and Willowmore Secondary School. Officials focused on aligning subject choices with career aspirations, highlighted the demand for technical skills in South Africa, and encouraged youth to consider Engineering and Artisan-related programmes offered by TVET Colleges.

The campaign concluded on Day 4 – 21 August 2025, with visits to Johnson Nqonqoza High School, Aeroville High School, and Cookhouse High School in Somerset East. As the final day of the roadshow, it reinforced the core message of empowerment through education and promoted the upcoming 2026 academic year application window, ensuring learners are informed and prepared to take the next step.

Throughout the roadshow, the EC TVET Colleges remained steadfast in their commitment to inform, inspire, and guide Grade 9–12 learners and out-of-school youth in making informed educational and career decisions that contribute to both personal development and national growth.
This roadshow also aimed to destigmatise vocational education and position TVET Colleges as crucial institutions in addressing youth unemployment, poverty, and skills shortages across the province.

We remain committed to building a skilled, knowledgeable, and employable generation through accessible education, meaningful opportunity, and lasting change.

WOMEN EMPOWERMENT SEMINAR – CAREER DAY

The College was honoured to be part of the Women Empowerment Seminar held on Saturday, 16 August 2025, at the Uviwe Child & Youth Centre in Schauderville, Gqeberha.

The purpose of the event was to empower young women by introducing them to various career paths that do not require extensive years of study, with a focus on practical and skills-based professions.

The College had the opportunity to exhibit and deliver a short presentation highlighting the programmes it offers, application procedures, and key dates. Attendees were informed about the role and offerings of a TVET College, with a strong encouragement to pursue skills-based qualifications that can lead to employment or entrepreneurship.

The day was a resounding success, and sincere thanks are extended to the Marketing Team for their dedication and for representing the College.

📚 TVET Month for All | Inspiring Young Minds at Iqhayiya Campus!

On Thursday, 14 August 2025, we had the pleasure of hosting Phillip Nikiwe Senior Secondary School from New Brighton at the Iqhayiya Campus for an engaging and insightful campus visit as part of our TVET Month for All celebrations! 🎉

🛠️ Learners and educators were taken on a guided tour of our workshops, where they explored the impressive machinery and gained valuable insight into the diverse programmes we offer.

Their excitement and curiosity were inspiring—proof that exposure to vocational education can truly spark interest and ambition in young minds.

College Participates in Career Information Session at Northern Lights School

On Thursday, 7 August 2025, the college participated in a career information session hosted by Northern Lights School.

The event provided an excellent opportunity to engage with Grade 9 to 12 learners and introduce them to the National Certificate (Vocational) [NCV] programmes offered at our institution.

The primary goal of the session was to inform learners about the wide range of study options available, while also guiding them through the application process for the 2026 academic year. This included sharing important information on application deadlines, admission requirements, and supporting documents.

Our team was pleased with the level of engagement from the learners, who showed particular interest in the Engineering and Hairdressing programmes. We look forward to welcoming some of these enthusiastic future students into our college community next year.

CAREER EXHIBITION MARKS THE START OF TVET MONTH

The College was honoured to be invited by Cornerstone Church in Gqeberha to participate in a career exhibition held at Loyiso High School on Friday, 1 August 2025. This event marked the commencement of TVET Month.

The primary objective of the exhibition was to provide Grade 9 learners with detailed information regarding the academic programmes offered by the College, to assist them in selecting appropriate subjects for Grade 10, and to offer guidance on the application process for the 2026 academic year. This included information on application timelines and procedures for those considering furthering their studies at the College.

College Participates in Successful Career Exhibition in Walmer

On Friday, 20 June 2025, the college proudly took part in a Career Exhibition hosted at the Masifunde Out of School Youth Centre in Walmer, Gqeberha.

The event aimed to engage with unemployed youth aged 18 to 35 from the Walmer area, providing them with detailed information about the college’s programmes, application processes, and study opportunities available for the upcoming academic year.

The day was a resounding success. Attendees showed great interest and left well-informed and encouraged to take the next step towards their future.

Port Elizabeth TVET College Showcases Opportunities at Bayworld Career Expo

Port Elizabeth TVET College proudly participated in a career expo hosted at the Bayworld Museum on Friday, 23 May 2025. The event was a collaborative initiative between Bayworld Museum and the Eastern Cape Department of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture, held under the theme “Take a Child to Work.”

The primary objective of the expo was to inform Grade 11 learners about the academic programmes and career opportunities offered by the college. As part of the experience, learners were guided through the premises and introduced to various aspects of the working environment.

This valuable exposure aimed to help learners develop an understanding of essential workplace skills—particularly those that are scarce and in high demand—while inspiring them to make informed decisions about their future career paths.

The college attended a career expo in Zwide, Gqeberha, on Thursday, 8 May 2025, which was hosted by Ubuntu Pathways.

College Participates in the Launch of Rural Economic Development and Youth Employment Programme

Our college proudly participated in the official launch of the Rural Economic Development and Youth Employment Programme, an ambitious initiative driven by the AmaXhosa Kingdom in partnership with the Eastern Cape House of Traditional Leaders and the Eastern Cape Development Corporation (ECDC).

This groundbreaking programme represents a strategic investment in land, communities, and long-term sustainability. Over the next three years, it will:

  • Cultivate 12,000 hectares of industrial hemp

  • Open up new income opportunities through carbon credit markets

  • Promote regenerative agricultural practices

  • Encourage biochar production for environmental health and energy sustainability

As part of the programme’s launch event, our college showcased its academic offerings and vocational training pathways alongside other TVET institutions from across the Eastern Cape, various Sector Education and Training Authorities (SETAs), and government departments. This platform allowed us to engage directly with learners and community members, offering guidance on career opportunities and how to access the resources available through our institution.

The event was graced by several high-profile dignitaries, including Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Training, Ms. Mimmy Gondwe, and Deputy Director-General, Ms. Thembisa Futshane, both of whom visited the exhibition stalls to interact with participants and stakeholders.

In her keynote address, Deputy Minister Gondwe emphasized the importance of digital skills development, youth entrepreneurship, and environmental sustainability in driving South Africa’s economic recovery and fostering inclusive growth.

Young People in Christ Career Expo 

We were thrilled to participate in the Young People in Christ Career Expo at St. Thomas High School on Saturday,29 March 2025. This event provided an excellent opportunity for our college to introduce learners and unemployed youth to the various educational opportunities available at our institution.

Purpose of Our Participation

Our goal was to share information about the exciting opportunities that await at our college and to guide learners and unemployed youth through the application process for the 2026 academic year. We were excited to engage with many young individuals eager to continue their education and pursue their dreams.

The College had the privilege of attending a Career Expo on Friday, 14 March 2025, hosted by Paterson High School, Schauderville, Gqeberha. This expo was part of the school’s 100-year celebration, and the college was honoured to be a part of the event.

The event provided an invaluable opportunity for learners and their parents to gain insights into the opportunities available to them, including those offered by our college.

Several key organizations were represented at the expo, including NMBM, ETC, Rhodes University, and many more, all of which aimed to equip learners with the information and resources they need to make informed decisions about their future after high school.

Career expo at Bluewater Bay 

The College had the privilege of attending a Career Expo on Tuesday, 4 March 2025, hosted by the Bluewater Bay community.

This fantastic event provided an invaluable opportunity for learners from four Motherwell High Schools to gain insights into the opportunities available to them, including those offered by our College.

Several key organizations were represented at the Expo, including NMBM, the African Bank, the EC Department of Employment & Labour, and NYDA, all of which aimed to equip the learners with the information and resources they need to make informed decisions regarding their future after Grade 12.

A highlight of the day was the inspiring address by retired PE College Principal, Mr. Matiso, who reminded learners that “Knowledge is power.” His message was a strong motivator, urging the learners to “Obtain a skill; start your own business,” and emphasising that “Everything seems impossible until it is done. “
