PORT ELIZABETH TVET COLLEGE SPREADS KINDNESS IN HONOUR OF MADIBA

As part of the 67 Minutes for Madiba initiative, Port Elizabeth TVET College extended a hand of kindness to the homeless community in and around Central, Gqeberha. In a heartfelt effort to honour Nelson Mandela’s legacy, the College reached out with small gestures of compassion, reminding us that every act, no matter how small, makes a difference.

In addition to the outreach in Central, tokens of kindness were also handed out to members of the community at the traffic lights, spreading warmth and hope across the city.

Mandela Day 2025 – Let’s Get Involved!

Today, we join South Africans and the global community in celebrating Nelson Mandela Day under this year’s inspiring theme: “Let’s Get Involved!”

Mandela Day is a reminder that each of us has the power to make a meaningful impact — through acts of service, kindness, and community engagement. It’s not just a day of reflection, but a call to action.

At Port Elizabeth TVET College, we are proud to honour Madiba’s legacy by encouraging our staff and stakeholders to dedicate their 67 minutes and beyond to uplift others and help create a better world.

Together, let’s get involved — and live the values Mandela stood for.

MANDELA MONTH: IT IS STILL IN OUR HANDS TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE

As we commemorate Nelson Mandela Month and prepare to observe Mandela Day on 18 July, we reflect on the enduring legacy of Tata Madiba and the values he stood for — unity, compassion, service, and justice.

This year’s theme, “It’s still in our hands to combat poverty and inequity,” calls on all South Africans — including us here at Port Elizabeth TVET College — to act and make a difference in our communities.

Mandela Month is not just a time of remembrance, but a powerful reminder that each one of us can be an agent of change. It encourages us, as both staff and students, to give back in ways that uplift others, whether through volunteering, supporting a cause, or simply lending a helping hand to someone in need.

At Port Elizabeth TVET College, we believe that education goes beyond the classroom. This month, we invite our college community to live Madiba’s values by:

  • Participating in community outreach projects
  • Donating time, skills, or resources to those in need
  • Spreading kindness and compassion in everyday interactions
  • Supporting initiatives that promote social justice and inclusion

Every small act of service counts. By working together, we can honour Mandela’s legacy and contribute to a better, more equitable South Africa.

Let’s make every day a Mandela Day.
