2025 STRATEGIC PLANNING WORKSHOP: BUILDING THE FUTURE

The College successfully hosted its Strategic Planning Workshop on 28 and 29 August 2025 at the Dolphins Leap Conference Room in Gqeberha.

In attendance were the Chairperson of the College Council, Mr Buku; the Deputy Chairperson, Ms Moerane; the Acting Principal, Ms Matikinca; the Deputy Principal: Academic, Ms Figg; various members of the academic and support staff; the SRC President and Secretary; as well as representatives from organised labour unions.

Mr Buku presided over the proceedings as Chair of the Workshop. His opening remarks emphasised the critical role that occupational programmes will play in shaping the future of TVET in South Africa.  The diversity of participants ensured that a wide range of perspectives were brought into the strategic conversation, enriching the dialogue and strengthening collective ownership of the outcomes. Delegates engaged in rigorous discussions and collaborative planning sessions aimed at enhancing institutional performance and service delivery.

The College had the privilege of welcoming two officials from DHET, Mr Gaza and Ms Gela, who attended as observers. Their presence provided valuable insight into national priorities and affirmed the Department’s ongoing support for institutional planning and development. Among the guests were also representatives from SAIMI and Life After Sports, whose contributions added valuable perspectives on skills development and post-career support, further enriching the workshop discussions.

The two-day engagement was marked by active participation, constructive dialogue, and a shared vision for growth. Staff members across all levels of the institution contributed meaningfully, demonstrating strong commitment to the College’s strategic objectives.

The workshop concluded on a high note, with a renewed sense of purpose and unity among stakeholders.
