📣 Staff Spotlight

We proudly extend our heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Sindiswa Ruby Tame-Gwaxula, English Lecturer at Iqhayiya Campus, on the successful completion of her Doctor of Philosophy in Education at the University of Fort Hare.

This remarkable achievement reflects her unwavering dedication, academic excellence, and steadfast perseverance. As she steps into the next chapter of her professional journey, we are confident she will continue to inspire, lead, and contribute meaningfully to the field of education.

We wish Dr. Tame-Gwaxula continued success in all her future endeavours.

Dr Tame-Gwaxula has the following encouraging words to share:

“My name is Dr Sindiswa Ruby Tame-Gwaxula, and I am an English Lecturer at Iqhayiya Campus.

I obtained my Doctor of Philosophy in Education from the University of Fort Hare—a qualification that represents not only knowledge, but deep resilience.

I am proud not just of the title “Dr,” but of the journey and personal growth it took to earn it. When facing adversity, remember that it can become the foundation of your strength.

I come from a background where opportunities were limited, but I refused to let that define my future. There were countless moments of hardship, yet I continued to show up. My PhD stands as a symbol of perseverance and strength in adversity.

I hope my journey reminds others that where you start does not determine where you’ll finish. This doctoral qualification was earned through sacrifice, struggle, and silent battles. I managed responsibilities, overcame self-doubt, and faced many setbacks, but I never lost sight of my goal. Every challenge helped shape who I am today.

The title of my thesis is:
“HIV and AIDS Vulnerabilities and Support Mechanisms for Students: A Qualitative Study of Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Colleges in the Nelson Mandela Bay Metropolitan District (NMBMD): A Case of Two TVET Colleges.”

This research was inspired by my passion for my students and my commitment to their success, not only academically, but in all aspects of their lives, despite the challenges they encounter.

Keep rising, no matter what.”
