Teboho Kolisang

Teboho Kolisang completed his apprenticeship in 2021 after starting his studies in Civil engineering at Iqhayiya Campus in 2016. Teboho is a qualified and experienced plumber today.

He recently competed in the TVETPreneurs Intercampus Competition’s campus rounds, winning first place in Category 4: Artisan Business. He and the other competitors represented the college in the Allan Grey Entrepreneurship Inter-College Regional Rounds Competition, where they all gave the judges an overview of their respective businesses. Teboho won at the regional rounds in his category and left for Johannesburg to represent the college at the National rounds.

Teboho learned a lot from the judges’ comments and gained a lot of exposure for his business at the National rounds. In addition to being grateful to everyone who accompanied him on this journey, he received a recognition certificate from the Allan Grey Makers Fest.

“I worked for numerous plumbing companies after completing my apprenticeship, where I developed my abilities and established my reputation as a trustworthy and knowledgeable plumber. All the same, I’ve always wanted to be my own boss and run a company that offers my community excellent services.

I subsequently took the “dichotomy of control” to heart and decided to launch my own plumbing company. I chose to concentrate on things that I could control because searching for a job in South Africa is extremely stressful and might result in depression. This concept inspired me.

I started by getting the required insurance and licenses, then I made an investment in a vehicle, tools, and equipment.

We become Bonaho Plumbers! I began by pitching my skills to neighbors, friends, and relatives, who were pleased with my knowledge and professionalism. Word-of-mouth recommendations spread rapidly.” said Teboho

Those with inquiries regarding Bonaho Plumbers, their offerings, or their services can contact him by email at bonahoplumbers@gmail.com or by phone at 0812407552 / 0714565086.

Sandisiwe Manqupu or “Quality” as everyone calls her.

Sandisiwe Manqupu completed her high school career in King William’s Town, and is staying in Motherwell, Port Elizabeth. She is enrolled at Russell Road Campus where she is studying Financial Management N5.

She recently competed in the TVETPreneurs Intercampus Competition’s campus rounds, winning first place in her division. She and the other competitors represented the college in the Allan Grey Entrepreneurship Inter-College Regional Rounds Competition, where they all gave judges an overview of their respective businesses. She learned a lot from the judges’ comments and increased the visibility of her business thanks to the competition.

“Preparing for the Grade 12 exams was difficult. I made the decision that I needed assistance and that I could not do it alone. I was fortunate to find a student at NMU who offered to help me with additional accounting studies. I passed with two distinctions after doing well in my studies.

We learned how to prepare a resume and conduct ourselves in an interview in high school, but not how to generate jobs for the nation. In my opinion, a leader exists where there are followers, and vice versa. More inventors and creators are needed in our nation.” said Sandisiwe.

Sandisiwe started her own company, RENT OURS. She provides equipment rentals for occasions/events. Currently, she is renting out pots and gas burners with cylinders.

Sandisiwe would like to add items to her wish list for hiring out. Although she does not currently have the money, she hopes to purchase mobile restrooms, refrigerators, tables, and chairs as well as tents in the future. Contact Sandisiwe if you would like to sponsor her or if you know of someone who should.
If you’re interested in employing her services, visit her at Russell Road Campus, or give her a call at 062 106 2057 or email her manqupus@gmail.com.
